Point-of-Sale
Version 5 Point-of-sale is a Windows
2000/XP OS application designed to use the standard GUI interface.
Version 5 utilizes the same keystrokes as Version 4 with
enhancements to the function keys. Touch Screens will eliminate
the need for keyboards in some retail environments. The Point-of-sale
system will still function stand-alone in the case of a network
failure or for the need to operate off-site. Enhancements
to transaction voids allows any transaction to be voided
at any time.
FOM (File Oriented Messaging) - The point-of-sale
system utilizes XML file formats to transfer real-time data
to a back office application (like our Version 5 Inventory
Management System). This design allows the Point-of-Sale
system to interface with any inventory application through
one centralized interface. Combining this function with the
remote register capabilities allows a system integrator to
adapt a full function point-of-sale system to an application
by customizing only one object. FOM communicates with
multiple registers at the same time using an application
COM object to process the data in the back office system.
For more information view the Partner Program.
Web Service - Creating a Web Service using
.Net along with a version of FOM allows the Version 5 Point-of-Sale
to be configured at a remote location yet still process transaction
real-time using the Internet to communicate with the back
office application. This configuration requires a 24/7 Internet
connection on both sides, along with Windows2000/XP running
IIS at the back office site. A special version of FOM is
loaded at the remote site where the registers are located.
The Web Service transfers XML transactions from the Point-of-Sale
to the back office application, then waits for responses
when needed from the Web Service all in real time. For more
information regarding this configuration or adding a Point-of-Sale
system to your application contact our development department.
Remote Registers - The point-of-sales system
can be configured to be off-site from the back office application.
Data from the back office application along with transaction
from the point-of-sale are transmitted using a simple Internet
connection with ARSFtp software. All functions that can be
performed off-line with the back office system can be performed
when configured as a remote register. Multiple registers
can be configured at the store location with just one Internet
connection. ARSFtp can be configured to connect to any FTP
server including a FTP service provided by ARS Solutions.
Remote Registers work best in those application where all
data maintenance is performed away from the physical store
location with only the sales taking place at the store level.
